Look for something special

One of things I love about traveling in Europe, is finding those “ma and pa” restaurants that continue to stay in business and offer not only incredible food, but an experience unlike any other. I don’t want to go into the ever (over) expanding capitalism model that America seems to thrive on, but there is something to be said about such a dying commodity. I hate that on every corner, Olive Garden, Appleby’s and Starbucks have taken over and that society in general, believes these places to offer “good food". They do offer oversized portions at cheaper prices and their food, which is sourced en-masse, will look and taste the same in Wichita and Portland.
I know it sounds harsh, but in reality, nothing beats sitting down at a sidewalk table in Paris…enjoying the simplest of handmade baguettes with fresh butter, escargot harvested from Burgundy and a bowl of French onion soup using vegetables grown on a rooftop garden located just above you. I have read a couple of articles recently that say that small business growth is back on the rise and that’s promising and gives me hope that we’ll start to have the treasures here that we find oversees.
Use your time time to wander the streets and find little treasures wherever you are....skip McDonald's or Pizza Hut and find a place that will give you memories for a life time.
